Germany

We've had a wonderful time in Germany sightseeing and eating and most importantly spending time with family at Christmas. My favorite gift was my boss notifying me that I am a "Captain-select" and will pin on in June. I am happy to get the news. Merry Christmas to all who read this!

dane deployed

Well Dane got to it before me after all, the lucky duck. He'll only be gone for about 6 wks, not even enough time for me to miss him! just kidding :) I am getting along well - I actually took off for Chicago after dropping him off on base. I got to go to Anna's wedding - yaay! it was beautiful and such fun.

Graduation

Dane graduated from B-52 training today :) I am so proud of him! onto bigger and better things (but we are staying in louisiana)

new plans

Well, long overdue - but my deployment was cancelled and I am here in Louisiana working a new job. I am the Executive Officer over in Headquarters 8 AF, working for a Colonel. It's been busy but I am enjoying it. I'll still write here occasionally if I have a good story. Right now not too much is going on except Dane's parents were out to visit for 4th of July and we had a great time with them.

the shrew

ok so remember the shrew from last post? well, that shrew was taken outside and put into the gathering of trees behind our house...well, wouldn't you know that once a cat gets the smell of a small rodent, he is bound to find him again! so, the next morning dane found pippin trotting up to the house with that shrew, only now dead, in his mouth! he put it at the doorstep and walked away...very strange! he's trying to be the lion he always dreamed he was.
So, about my deployment...I will be leaving next week. I know I already said that before, but it should be right this time. I am ready to get out of here! In a good way. :) Stay in touch.

Wrapping up at home

I've been getting ready to go and just found out i'll be around another week or so. good news and bad news at the same time. i am ready to go, so it kind of sucks that i have to wait around, but it does give me more time with Dane and my friends here. Today is my sister Beth's birthday and also my cousin Sarah and friend Ester's bithday as well. happy birthday to all of you. We have the day off work today because last weekend we had to work saturday and sunday! so it's a nice treat after a looooooong week. around wednesday i should find out when i will be leaving.
this morning I woke up and didn't see the kitties anywhere...that was wierd cuz they are usually sleeping on the couch or watching the birds from the window. i found all three of them in the garage playing with a tiny little shrew! i was amazed that they hadn't killed it! dane put it outside...that's about the only thing that's happened today - ahhhh relaxing, so wonderful. well, tonight we are going to eat at a nice indian restaurant with both my friends and dane's friends. then we're gonna see Made of Honor and go dancing at Rockin Rodeo afterwards! i'm so excited!

Visiting home

Right now I'm home in Chicago with my mom, dad, sisters and best friends Natalie and Anna. I went on a walk with my parents this morning in the mild chicago spring weather - not like Louisiana! I got to meet Anna's fiance!!!! his name is Dan and i'm so glad i got to meet him since i'm not going to be able to go to their wedding in September. Anna and Natalie both looked so beautiful - i love those girls. somehow we always pick up right where we left off. i wish we lived closer together. We're celebrating Nat's birthday tonight - so I'll get to see a bunch of people, the only important one being my radiant Natalie. That's all for now. I'll be in town until Tuesday, then i'll have a couple weeks in Shreveport, LA at home with Dane before I head out the door. More later...
